The Magician’s body is a hand-sculpted form sculpted by Betsy’s partner R. Scott Long. The porcelain elements are repurposed doll parts and vintage dental samples. All three eyes are antique glass doll eyes. The rest of this boy’s surface is covered in glass beads, vintage glass stones, contemporary Swarovski stones, sections of a micro beaded purse from the 1800’s, contemporary Czech cup chain, antique metal beads, with repurposed sheared mink, rabbit, and chinchilla. I have been enjoying the tactile quality of these sculptures with their furred auras. The Magician hangs on the wall. There is a hidden hole in the back of his head. He is a fine and magical fellow who may be about to pull a human out of a hat or even his pockets…
